Paver driveway contractor built for real vehicle weight.

A driveway takes more punishment than any other surface on the property. We build paver driveways across the Bay Area for daily cars, work trucks, RVs and boats. Most residential driveways we install land between $15,000 and $23,000.

What makes a paver driveway different from a paver patio?

Load. A patio carries people and furniture. A driveway carries two tons of car turning its wheels in the same spot every day. That means a deeper compacted base than a patio, thicker pavers, a laying pattern that resists turning tires and an edge restraint all the way around so nothing spreads.

Our driveways go in on the Permalast Layered Install System with pavers rated up to 8,000 PSI, and they are built to carry full-size RVs, trucks and boats without rutting or settling.

Paver driveway or concrete?

Concrete for the same footprint usually quotes at $9,000 to $12,000, so it is cheaper on day one. The difference shows up later.

  • Concrete driveways in Bay Area clay crack, and the cracks cannot be hidden.
  • An oil stain or a sunken spot on pavers is fixed by lifting and replacing a few units.
  • When a sewer lateral or water line under the driveway needs work, pavers come up and go back. Concrete gets jackhammered.
  • A paver driveway changes the front of the house in a way plain concrete does not.

How much does a paver driveway cost in the Bay Area?

Most residential paver driveways we install run $15,000 to $23,000. A short, flat driveway on good soil can come in under that. A long driveway, a steep approach, or one where the old concrete has to be broken out and hauled away pushes above it.

The gap between a paver quote and a concrete quote is almost entirely base depth, edge work and hand labor. Those are also the lines a low paver bid tends to cut.

What should a driveway quote include?

  • Demolition and haul-away of the existing driveway.
  • Excavation depth and the thickness of the compacted base, in writing.
  • Edge restraint around the full perimeter, including where the driveway meets the street apron.
  • Drainage: where the water goes at the garage and at the sidewalk.
  • Paver thickness rated for vehicles and the laying pattern.
  • Whether the city requires a permit for work at the sidewalk or curb.

How long is the driveway out of use?

Most driveways fall within our usual three to seven working days on site. Unlike concrete, which needs days of curing before it can carry a car, a paver driveway can be driven on as soon as the joints are sanded and compacted.

Driveways: frequently asked questions

How much does a paver driveway cost in the Bay Area?+

Most residential paver driveways we install run $15,000 to $23,000 in 2026. Short, flat driveways on good soil come in lower. Long or steep driveways, or ones that need old concrete removed, come in higher.

Can a paver driveway hold an RV or a boat trailer?+

Yes, when the base is built for it. We size the compacted base and the paver thickness for the heaviest vehicle that will park there, and we ask about RVs, trucks and trailers during the estimate for that reason.

Why is a paver driveway more expensive than concrete?+

It needs a deeper compacted base, an edge restraint around the whole perimeter, and pavers laid and cut by hand. Concrete is poured and finished in a day. The labor is most of the difference.

Do paver driveways shift or sink over time?+

Not when the base is deep enough and compacted in layers. Sinking and ruts come from thin base or soft subgrade that was never dug out. If a spot does settle years later, those pavers are lifted, the base is corrected and the same pavers go back.

How soon can I park on a new paver driveway?+

The same day the job is finished. There is no curing time. Once the joint sand is compacted in, the driveway is ready for vehicles.
